On the 9th of June, at 8:00 p.m., we would like to invite everyone to the Bill Hicman pub in Krakow’s Kazimierz district for the premiere of the “Visegrad 1.5” audiobook presenting the works of the scholarship holders of the spring edition of the “Visegrad Literary Residencies” project: Krisztina Galgoczi, Marek Debnar, Břetislav Ditrych, and Joanna Szczepanik. The original interpretation was prepared by Iwona Sitkowska and Kajetan Wolniewicz, and the music by Jacek “Budyń” Szymkiewicz. The audio drama was directed by Iwona Nowacka. Admission is free!

On the 26th of May 2015, the fifth edition of the “SAGA” creativity workshops for senior citizens began at Villa Decius. For the next two months, the project’s participants will polish their literary skills taking part in workshops and seminars conducted by Katarzyna Kubisiowska and Małgorzata Majewska. The programme will be complemented by the volunteer Saga Club. The texts created during the workshops will be published on the project’s website – www.saga.villa.org.pl – and featured in a publication coming out at the end of 2015.

The Villa Decius Association, the Zwierzyniec District Council, and the Helen Doron Centre invite parents and children to a “Sunday with Decius”, the annual educational and recreational picnic, which will take place on 14 June between 11 am and 8 pm in the Villa Decius gardens. This year’s theme is centred on international dances. The event will be joined by local cultural and educational institutions, music schools, and young artists.

The Villa Decius Association and the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation invite German writers, translators of German literature into Polish, and translators of Polish literature into German to apply for residential scholarships at the Villa Decius in Krakow. The deadline for applications is 31 May 2015. The duration of the residency is from one to three months (August – November 2015).

Between the 7th and the 10th of April 2015, another meeting of the participants of the international “Res publica reloaded – European public spaces as a source of empowerment” project took place in Düsseldorf. The Villa Decius Association is the project’s Polish partner. Young cultural managers and representatives of non-governmental organisations from the Netherlands and Poland learned about the German experiences connected with the use of art in the public space.

Between the 28th of April and the 2nd of May 2014, another meeting of the participants of the international “Res publica reloaded – European public spaces as a source of empowerment” project took place in Amsterdam. The Villa Decius Association is the project’s Polish partner. Young cultural managers and representatives of non-governmental organisations from Germany and Poland learned about the Dutch experiences connected with the use of art in the public space.

On 21 May (Thursday) at 5 pm, Villa Decius will host a meeting with Michał Olszewski, reporter and author of the widely discussed collection entitled “Najlepsze buty na świecie” (“The Best Shoes in the World”). The event will inaugurate the “SAGA creativity workshop” targeted at senior citizens interested in literature and creative writing. The meeting will be hosted by Katarzyna Kubisiowska. Admission is free of charge.

Between the 7th and the 10th of April 2015, another meeting as part of the international “Res publica reloaded – European public spaces as a source of empowerment” project took place in Düsseldorf. The Villa Decius Association is one of the project’s partners. The aim of the initiative is to make an attempt at taking a look at the use of public art – broadly defined as street art – in the construction of institutionalised artistic strategies and new methods of education.
