A series of performances on the outdoor stage in the Villa Decius gardens ended, on August 1, 2014, with the presentation of international ensemble Decius Danza. The extensive repertoire spans various styles and dance techniques. Artists presented French pavane in different variants, Italian renaissance dances, Spanish historical dances whose rhythm was marked by castanets, and dignified English dance.
On July 31, 2014, the viewers collected around Villa Decius had the opportunity of admiring a very interesting high-class performance which was set in the reality of traditional Scottish culture and based on the libretto of the romantic ballet “La Sylphide.” The adaption of the story about great power of love and other human emotions (not always beautiful and crystal-clean) was undertaken by the Comhlan Ensemble of Irish and Scottish Dances from Kraków.
The subsequent day of shows under the International Summer Art Academy 2014 was devoted to Indian culture. Presentations of ensembles began with three vocal compositions performed by students of the AIPA Institute – “BRAHMASWAR” ensemble. In the second part of the programme, dance set ups in the classic Kathak style were presented by dancers from the “Alaknanda Sanskriti” ensemble.

You are heartily welcome to see the third film as part of the “Doomed to Books” series. Its heroine is Silvia Ruppeldtová – Slovakian author of screenplays, journalist, translator and archaeologist. “Doomed to Books” is a series of seven interviews in a film form, featuring residents of scholarship programmes of the Villa Decius Association. The purpose of the project is promotion of readership with the use of creative potential of authors, who not only answer questions, but also co-create the plot in the film. On the second day of performances, viewers and ensembles participating in the workshops joined the great dancing activities. During the first part of the evening, steps of French dances were mastered to the music performed by artists from Compagnie Outre Mesure on copies of former instruments, flutes and guitars, under the supervision of Marie Claire Le Corre, a specialist on historical dances. The second part of the evening was filled with English and Polish ballroom dancing conducted by Jane Austen Dance School.
The 13th Summer Visegrad School came to an end. Forty-five young people from twelve countries met in Villa Decius to talk about most important issues for the present-day Europe in the group of outstanding experts. During the School, they participated in lectures, debates, film marathons and study visits in Kraków and Małopolska. (POL) W pierwszym dniu pokazów gościliśmy zespoły taneczne, muzyczne i baletowe z Polski, Włoch i Francji, które zaprezentowały publiczności różnorodny repertuar. Spektakl w dwóch aktach pt. „Letnie igraszki i uczta u księcia Sułkowskiego”, jako swój debiut, wykonał zespół Tańca Dworskiego Zamku Rydzyńskiego „Corona Florum” z Poznania. Zespół powstał w 2013 roku i jest aktualnie najmłodszą formacją tańca historycznego w Polsce i jedyną w Wielkopolsce.
