Everyone aged 5o and older is welcome to participate in a literary contest, the theme of which is “SAGA – everyday heroes”. Among the literary forms that will be accepted are short story, fable, legend, blog, diary (fragments), screenplay, column, essay, interview, report or review. The maximum size of a text is 8000 characters. The competition is the culmination of the two previous seasons of the creative writing workshop for older people, called SAGA.
The Villa Decius Association has launched the next season of the cyclical project called the International Summer Academy of Arts. This initiative serves the purpose of transferring knowledge and creative inspiration in art and culture into the area of cultural education, and the development of creative expression and creativity. The project focuses on selected areas of art, associated with a broad range of theatrical performances, such as classical music, historical dance, and singing. In July (July 22-28) children are invited to participate in singing workshops, which are aimed at everyone aged 6-16 interested in singing and music, regardless of their experience.
On 24-28 June the Villa Decius hosted the educational part of the Baroque Academy project. Baroque dance workshops were organized by the Court Ballet “Cracovia Danza” in collaboration with the French Académies des Saisons de Sablé of the “l’Eventail” troupe, which is dedicated to the education of professional artists dancers in France and around the world. Classes held by a highly qualified Baroque dance expert, Marie-Geneviève Massé were closed to the general public as they were intended for professional dancers, dance teachers and specialists in the “belle dance” technique.
Villa Decius Association is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 10th Polish Prize of Sergio Vieira de Mello, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (2002-2003). Applications must be completed and submitted online between April 1 and June 30, 2013. Results will be announced on August 17 at the official ceremony at the Vila Decius during the international conference.
The new season of the Gardens of Creativity 2013, the Theatre and Dance project, is underway. This year’s cycle will open with William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, performed by Teatr Kontra (Spišska Nova Ves, Slovakia), adapted and directed by Klaudyna Rozhin. The performance will take place on Monday, 1 July at 7:00pm at the Castle in Sucha Beskidzka and on Tuesday, 2 July at 7:00pm at Villa Decius. Free passes to the shows are available at InfoKraków (ul. św. Jana 2, The Wyspiański Pavilion – pl. Wszystkich Świętych 2) and before the shows.

W spotkaniu wezmą udział ukraińska pisarka, tłumaczka i publicystka – Sofija Andruchowicz, poetka Bohdana Matijasz oraz ukrainistka i literaturoznawczyni Katarzyna Kotyńska. Z wielką przyjemnością informujemy, iż od połowy czerwca do połowy lipca naszym gościem jest Renate Schmidgall, wybitna tłumaczka literatury polskiej na język niemiecki, laureatka nagrody Fundacji Ledig – Rowohlt, Europejskiej Nagrody Tłumaczy oraz Nagrody im. Karla Dedeciusa. Tłumaczyła m.in. Witolda Gombrowicza, Andrzeja Kuśniewicza, Pawła Huelle, Marka Ławrynowicza, Andrzeja Stasiuka czy Jacka Dehnela.
Serdecznie zapraszamy 9 czerwca na „Niedzielę u Decjusza” – doroczny plener edukacyjny o charakterze pikniku rodzinnego organizowany z okazji Dnia Dziecka.
