The Borderless People conference is a joint initiative of the Villa Decius Association in Kraków and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Office in Poland. It is a part of the most prestigious cycle of annual conferences devoted to the Idea of Freedom organised by the Villa Decius Association since 2005. The Borderless People conference will gather an international group of leading intellectuals, politicians and recognized experts who will present and analyze the interactions between politics and human rights. It will offer a space for reflection and provision of knowledge, and become a forum for open discussion sessions with representatives of academic and cultural milieux, NGOs, public administration and media. If authorized by the conference experts, the debates will be documented in both Polish and English.

Stowarzyszenie Willa Decjusza zaprasza na V Krakowskie Dni Literatury – międzynarodowy festiwal literacki, podsumowujący dwa lata międzynarodowego programu stypendiów i wydarzeń literackich Dagny, który będzie mieł miejsce od 6 do 8 października w Krakowie.

International Summer Academy of Arts – music programmes for elementary school students. We begin the second edition of music programmes for elementary school students from small towns. These programmes are very diversified – first, classical music composers are presented and later various types of instruments, their range of sound and structure are discussed. Particular musical pieces are played by gifted students of music schools, members of school choirs and students of the Academy of Music in Krakow. Małgorzata Mazur is the musical supervisor of the project. We would like to invite all teachers and students of schools located outside the administrative borders of Krakow to participate in the programme. Participation is free.

In the second half of September we will begin “Saga” creativity workshops for people 50 +. Participants selected on the basis of application forms will start their first classes in literary workshops groups conducted by Joanna Pawluśkiewicz, a novelist and a screenwriter, and Katarzyna Kubisiowska, a journalist and a reviewer. Computer courses in small groups and tailored to the level of the participants will be conducted by instructors experienced in working with mature students. These actions will be complemented by “Saga Club” created and run by the workshops participants.

The programme encompasses an 8-week stay at the Genshagen Palace near Berlin and is addressed to artists representing different art disciplines (literature, music, the fine arts, theatre, media art). The programme is a three-partite initiative: in each edition there are three participating artists – one from Poland, one from Germany and one from France.

The Villa Decius Association would like to invite you to the exhibition “Albrecht Dürer and his Time – Engravings from the Collections of the Eastern Slovak Museum in Košice.” The exhibition would be open until 25 September, 2011, Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as on particular Sundays: 11, 18, 25 September from 12 to 6 p.m. The exhibition is closed on Saturdays. Admission is free.
