The RenEU – New Renaissance in Europe project The Renaissance Trail in Malopolska 2014 project, carried out as part of the Culture Programme 2007-2013 by the Villa Decius Association in cooperation with international partners from four European regions (Italy, Spain, Portugal, France), focuses on conducting activities aimed at the preparation and creation of a common European media communication platform concerning a cultural trail concentrated around the subject of Renaissance-related cultural heritage in the European dimension.

The central figure of the last episode of the “Condemned to Books” series ‒ Zbigniew Masternak ‒ is a Polish prose writer, screenwriter, dramatist, and footballer. He graduated from Screenwriting at the Krakow School of Film and Audiovisual Communication in 2009. As a prose writer, he debuted in the “Twórczość” monthly in 2000. He is working on an autobiographical series of novels entitled “Księstwo” (The Heritage); three books were already published in the years 2006-2008: “Chmurołap” (Cloud Catcher), “Niech żyje wolność” (Long Live Freedom), and “Scyzoryk” (Swiss Army Knife).
We encourage you to watch the fifth film in the “Condemned to Books” series. This time, the central figure is Marta Dzido – writer, documentary filmmaker, and editor. Author of the “Ślad po mamie” (A Mother’s Trace), “Małż” (Clam), and “Matrioszka” (Matryoshka) novels. Her works have been translated into Vietnamese, Hungarian, and German. Scholarship holder within the framework of the following programmes: Homines Urbani, Młoda Polska, Visegrad Literary Residencies, and the scholarship programme of the Minister of Culture.
This year’s edition of the Decius’ Ducats programme has come to an end. Decius’ Ducats’ participants included about 360 students and teachers from 10 primary schools in the Malopolska Region. Thanks to their participation in the programme, the students had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of the economy, numismatics, and history of the Renaissance.
On the 26th of November 2014, creativity workshops organised as part of the “Saga” project ended at Villa Decius. The participants ‒ people aged over 55 ‒ polished their literary skills under the supervision of Katarzyna Kubisiowska and Michał Olszewski. Texts created during the workshops can be found at www.saga.villa.org.pl, some of them will be included in a special publication, which will soon be available at Villa Decius. Highly recommended!
