A presentation of hip-hop lyrics in translation
Members of the Polish-German group of the “TransStar Europa” project will present their German translations of Polish hip-hop lyrics (including artists such as Kasia Nosowska, Sistars, SYNU Fisz, Polepiony, Masłowska, Maria Peszek). The participants will rap and sing their translation to taped or live music. In between the songs, the audience will be invited to a discussion about the difficulties related to translating hip-hop.
The event will also be joined by the members of the Polish-Ukrainian group. Stefan Heck will read excerpts from Yuriy Izdryk’s essay “Lviv: Sequences of Psychosis” and, together with Nina Havrylov, from “Zynandali” by Miroslav Dochynets.
“Trans Star Europa” is a European Union project designed to promote literature and translation. It was launched in January 2013 by the University of Tübingen and nine other European institutions. Its primary objective is to raise awareness on minor European languages and less well-integrated cultures among the general public.
